Hilden House - 2 December 2012 - TripAdvisor - "Deserves its status"
" Just back, stayed for one night 1st Dec with another couple. Completely deserves it's great reviews, wouldn't hesitate to stay here. Perfect location, rooms small but perfectly formed, most importantly lovely and cosy warm (temps dropped this weekend to sub zero but got back in at midnight and it was lovely and warm). Breakfast, just as the others have all said ..... Wonderful!"
Hilden House - 22 November 2012 - TripAdvisor - "Beautiful base in an elegant city"
"There are some hotels that just "belong" to the city they are in and Hilden House is one of them - just so Cheltenham! I loved staying at Hilden House for 3 nights in early October. My room was so elegant and classically English. Very feminine without the frills and chintz. Beautiful breakfast, in the wonderful breakfast room presided over so warmly and professionally by Shelley. I loved sitting by the window enjoying the garden and the view of the elegant Regency houses opposite. Gorgeous biscuits on the tea tray in my room, cute little bar, special touches everywhere. Perfect location for walking everywhere."
Hilden House - 19 November 2012 - TripAdvisor - "Superb"
"We stayed 2 nights, Friday and Saturday for the November race meeting.Having stayed in previous years at hotels such as the Thistle and Mercure we decided to try Hilden House given the favourable reviews and comments. We were not disappointed. The room was first class, comfortable and well furnished and the breakfast excellent.Shelley was extremely helpful and the perfect hostess. We will be trying to stay here whenever we are in Cheltenham again and would recommend this as better value than any of the hotels we have tried."
Hilden Lodge - 1 November 2012 - TripAdvisor - "Fabulous Food"
"My wife & I stayed here for a night on a special offer dinner, bed & breakfast rate. They don't particularly advertise their dinners here, but I'd highly recommend them - we were the only ones eating there, which seemed a shame, but we had wonderful service and great food at a bargain rate. The curry was a little hotter than I'd have liked (I asked for it to be 'medium'), so I'd recommend being on the cautious side when choosing how hot to have that. The breakfast was equally great, and our room was clean, well-maintained and spacious. We've been merrily recommending Hilden Lodge to all our friends since, and would happily stay there again. "
Hilden House - 9 September - TripAdvisor - "A warm welcome"
"We only stayed one night but would have been very happy to stay longer. A very warm and personal welcome from the hosts, very comfortable room with everything you need. Very convenient location a short walk from the town centre and very close to the park. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. A real bonus to have free on-street parking available with the permits they give to guests. Would definitely return."
Hilden House - 7 September - TripAdvisor - "Superbly managed. Excellent accommodation and breakfast in a great location"
"We spent 4 nights at Hilden House & could not fault it. Breakfast was freshly made & the menu extensive. Our room was lovely. Quiet, overlooking the courtyard. Easy walk into the centre of Cheltenham was a bonus too. We would definitely stay here again. All the management were welcoming & made our stay so pleasurable! "
Hilden House - 7 September - TripAdvisor
"Had 3 nights at the Hilden House and couldn't fault it. Lovely room, fabulous hosts in Aiden and Shelley assisted by a true character in Phil Cook. The room was absolutely spotless and breakfasts excellent in a really relaxed and friendly atmosphere. One of the best places we have ever stayed in, the team really made an effort to make our stay extra special. Will definitely be back, a real gem."
Hilden Lodge - 12 July 2012 - TripAdvisor
"Having stayed at the Hilden lodge on 3 occasions now for a total of four nights I, and my partner, would jump at the chance for another stay there.
On arriving you receive a friendly and welcoming reception from one half of a great pair of hotel managers, before being shown to your room.
The rooms are of reasonable size with the expected amenities plus a DVD/TV set which can be put to use with the option to borrow one of numerous DVD's in the hotels collection.
There are various eateries around the Cheltenham area but If you get the chance I thoroughly suggest you eat at there. They provide excellent home made food cooked to order at very reasonable prices (the cheesecake is a thorough recommendation).
My final comment regards the breakfast. It is truly the best hotel breakfast I have had the opportunity to eat (and there have been many).
There is an excellent selection of fresh fruit, yogurts and cereals and then scrumptious cooked breakfasts made to your own specification."
Hilden Lodge - June 2012 - LateRooms.com - "Good quality accommodation and food"
"Excellent value for money, in a nice area and excellent breakfast."
Hilden House - 27 June 2012 - TripAdvisor - "Wonderful stay & even more wonderful hosts!"
"Shelley and Aidan were very welcoming and friendly, nothing too much trouble. The room was spotless and decorated to a very high standard. Breakfast was served in a beautiful dining room and was absolutely first class !! The Hotel is situated within easy walking distance from shops, restaurants etc."
Hilden Lodge - 18 June 2012 - Booking.com
"Efficient staff. A good comfortable, if not luxurious, small hotel. Breakfast excellent - not overwhelming in choice - but the produce on offer was of excellent quality and very well prepared. The fresh fruit on offer during the breakfast was of a good variety and of immaculate quality. The husband and wife management team were laid back, yet extremely efficient. The hotel was also situated in a very pleasant part of Cheltenham. For the price it was an excellent choice."
Hilden Lodge - 22 May 2012 - TripAdvisor - "Beyond Expectations"
"B & B's in general can be very 'hit and miss', but this one is a definite hit. On arrival we were met by Wayne and shown to our room which was on the downstairs floor. Now I am very fussy about cleanliness, having been in the hospitality business, but there was no need to worry. The room and bathroom were spotless. As was the entrance, dining room and bar area. (Top marks to the housekeeping). We had breakfast in the morning and again we were impressed with the selection of produce and the freshness. I had the Hilden special and my husband the cooked breakfast and both were delicious, well presented and perfectly cooked. Despite the dining room being very busy for breakfast we felt that our hosts, Wayne and Melissa were very attentive and put their customers first.
When i booked this accommodation I had thought it was pricey. However, the quality of the room and the breakfast are well worth the extra. We would definitely book this accommodation again and recommend it to others. Well done Wayne and Melissa. A credit to the business."
Hilden House - May 2012 - LateRooms - "Great place to stay"
"Great location. Close to the High Street area and restaurants and close to the race track. Clean and the breakfasts were wonderful. Aidan and Shelley were the perfect hosts! "
Hilden House - 18 May 2012 - TripAdvisor - "Amazing Escape"
"Staying in Hilden House is like being home. Shelley and Aidan are very warm and friendly from
the first step into their house. They have time for small chats, to give advice for almost every
question; where to eat, what to do in Cheltenham and surroundings, what to see. The house and the garden are the reflection of two people, who put all their love and knowlidge into the
property. All i have to say: Go and experience for yourself."
Hilden Lodge - May 2012 - LateRooms - "Fantastic Accommodation"
"Lovely (if a little small) room, very friendly welcome everything spotlessly clean and breakfast was stunning. We loved our stay and would't hesitate to stay again."
Hilden House - 14 May 2012 - TripAdvisor - "Fantastic night's stay"
"We stayed at Hilden House for a night out in Cheltenham for my 30th birthday. We went to a fantastic restaurant called The Daffodil which I can highly recommend. The welcome we received on arrival at Hilden House was great, very warm and friendly. We were taken through to the bar where we had a drink in the sun lit courtyard before getting ready to go out. The room was very clean and airy. The breakfast in the morning was great and there were plenty of options even for my vegetarian wife. I would definitely recommend anybody stay here as we genuinely felt welcomed and very comfortable despite only staying for one night. We will definitely go back the next time we go out in Cheltenham."
Hilden Lodge - 6th May 2012 - TripAdvisor - "Fab"
"What a fantastic hotel! We stayed here for 2 nights when we were in the area for a friend's wedding. The room and location were spot on for what we were looking for and the breakfast was fab! Particularly enjoyed the locally made marmalade. Wayne was really helpful- advising us on the local pubs, taxis etc. when I stupidly left my favourite boots in the hotel, he packaged them up and sent them back- amazing service! Thank you!"
Hilden House - 24th April 2012- Trip Advisor - "Exceptional"
"This is truly a "home away from home" experience and feels more like staying with friends than in a B&B. Aidan, Shelly and Phil’s hospitality is warm and genuine and the atmosphere and ambiance is very relaxed and welcoming. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they are never too busy to stop for a chat. Rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean with every amenity possible including huge wall mounted plasma TVs in every room. Guests staying on business are given complimentary room upgrades where possible which must give them the edge over competitors. There is a huge selection of restaurant options close by from cheap and cheerful to very smart (Jamie Olivers Italian to name but one) all within easy walking distance. Aidan’s breakfasts have to be sampled to be believed and would quite simply give some 5* hotels I’ve stayed at a run for their money. I can’t speak highly enough about this beautiful boutique B&B. Choose to stay at Hilden House and you won’t be disappointed. Satisfaction guaranteed! "
Hilden House - 22nd April 2012 - Trip Advisor - "An excellent weekend"
"2 weeks ago we (about 20 people) stayed at Hilden House for the weekend for my sister's wedding. We could not have felt more welcome by Shelly and Aiden from the start to the end of our trip. All of our needs were accommodated with a smile and nothing was too much trouble. Even though this is a B&B, Aiden and Shelly prepared a fantastic Friday night meal of our choice (Indian) at a very reasonable cost person person - delicious! The brekkies included the juciest and most delicious bacon I've had in a long while, the bar stayed open to suit the 20 guests from the wedding party and Shelley and Aidan even sourced the favourite drinks of our relatives from the USA. I haven't ever stayed in a B&B where the managers really go so much out of their way to make it a very special stay. Thankyou!!! "
Hilden Lodge - 7th April - Trip Advisor
"Five star hotel ,Wayne was very helpful made the one night break excellent and could not do enough to help us, the room was very clean with excellent decor with flat screen television. The one ensuite was compact and i am large lad but it was okay for me, and the food was very good with local produce and cook to order.we would use again if up that way. "
Hilden House - 6th April 2012 - Trip Advisor - "Home from Home"
"Stayed at Hilden House for a night recently after shopping and dinner. I can only agree with my fellow reviewers. Accomodation and welcome excellent. Each room of this house is treated with care in terms of its character and decor. All very charming and excellent breakfast. If I stay in Cheltenham again this is where I'll be going. Well done for meeting excellent standards with value for money. "
Hilden Lodge - 2nd April 2012 - Trip Advisor
"My husband and I stayed 3 nights at Hilden Lodge on a golfing break. I have to say that Wayne (manager) was really attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were clean and there was ample supply of beverages and water in the room. The food that was served up was excellent. The breakfast was cooked to order and the Gloucestershire Old Spot sausages made the full English breakfast stand out. For those that wanted non cooked breakfast there was an extensive range of cereals but again there was a shining element in the platter of fresh fruit available.
What has to be the hidden gem is eating at Hilden Lodge in the evening.Melissa (joint manager) is an amazing cook/chef. We opted to eat in for two of the evenings and were not disappointed. Again, everything was cooked to order and so attractively presented. It all tasted good too. Added to this, it was a pleasant 25 minute walk into the town centre. We would most certainly stay there again."
Hilden Lodge - 31st March 2012 - Trip Advisor
"Lovely b+b which felt more like small hotel - best of both. Didn't feel like you were in someone's home, but still attentive service. Room a little on the small side, but clean and with comfortable bed . Ensuite shower room compact, but again clean and tidy. Were provided promptly with iron and board when requested. Lovely breakfast, plenty of fruit, juice, cereals etc. Good cooked, with choice of eggs and option to drop items. Would come back. "
Hilden House - 30th March 2012 - Trip Advisor
"We stayed at Hilden house whilst en route to Cardiff and couldn't have picked better. The location was just outside the city centre and just a two minute walk to our chosen restaurant. The guest rooms were spotless and couldn't be faulted. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating with plenty of good advice when requested. Lovely cooked breakfast and being able to grab a quick drink at the bar prior to going out was a bonus, will definitely go back if the opportunity arises again."
Hilden House - 25th March 2012 - Trip Advisor
"We usually stay in hotels and decided to use a guest house for a change, I have to say we had no regrets with our choice of accommodation! The house is beautiful and absolutely spotless, our hosts were very welcoming and it was lovely to have a drink at the bar before going out to dinner. Breakfast didn't disappoint, we would definatly recommend this guest house to friends and would return ourselves!! "
Hilden Lodge - 22nd March 2012 - Trip Advisor
"We needed somewhere to stay for two nights in order to attend a family funeral and having now returned home, I felt it important to leave a review. Wayne and Melissa were incredibly attentive hosts ensuring that our needs were met at all times. With an initial problem with the room, which was solved very quickly we settled into Hilden Lodge and felt very welcomed. Wayne and Melissa create a lovely atmostphere, with Melissa's fantastic homecooking being the particular highlight. Thank you! "
Hilden House - 18th March 2012 - Trip Advisor - "Gorgeous B&B - Perfect Location"
"We stayed at Hilden House just for a brief one night stay in Cheltenham, the hosts were very welcoming and even upgraded us on arrival to a four poster room when they found out it was my boyfriends birthday! Location was great, 5 mins walk (if that) to the town centre where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. The house is a lovely old town house and very grand, we had a drink before we went out for dinner in the small bar which was perfect. Oh and breakfast the next day was fab too! Will definately be back!"
Hilden House - 18th February 2012 - Trip Advisor - "Very good Choice!"
"I very much enjoyed my ten-day stay in Hilden House! The house is perfectly located between the Town Centre and Pittville Park - both in about 5-7 minutes walking distance. The house is very quiet, the rooms comfortable and Shelley, Aidan and the staff always very attentive and helpful. I was even tought how to prepare a proper poached egg. I'm partly disabled and I had no complaints at all!"
